IN FRAME: SASHA
Jumping Right In
I would be a little naive to say that I didn't expect to meet so many like-minded individuals when I started offering collaborations on Instagram. I didn't think that anyone would care, or even pay attention. But I have been proven wrong time and time again, and I am wholeheartedly thankful for that.
Coming into a shoot with someone new in a new area can yield some unexpected results. Such as this when the sun was setting just at the right angle, it was cutting through the dark, unoccupied parts of the building. Sasha and I had both come into this shoot looking for more natural landscapes. Once the sun had started setting, I found myself entranced by the dark blue-green hues of the glass.
I think at times like these I’m always surprised at how unexpected and dramatic natural light can be. I forget how much character, and depth it can add to the image. I can get caught up in adjusting for the right exposure, where everything is “well exposed” according to the dials and meters. But when the images come out of my camera like this, I realize that the shadows make up just as much as the areas in light.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that sometimes we just need to seize opportunities as we see them. Sometimes we just need to take a chance.
